with thick, black smoke and blinding ashes
it was just the beginning of the night
when the terrible incident came to light
Cry! My beloved country...
as your sons and daughters die incessantly
Cry ! My beloved country...

for terror strikes you and
with your eyes you can only SEE
Oh why must this happen to my country?
What sin has she done to deserve such calamity?
Her offsprings are the ones who suffer most
when threats and panic overflow
So much blood spilled on her 'holy' ground
who's to blame, who set off the bomb?
Isn't peace respected anymore?
Why are lives so abhorred?
Amidst all this hopeless chaos
we are both unsuspecting victims
you there in my country
and I'm here unfortunately
Cry! My beloved country
I have yet to be your progeny
but from afar I see your tears
and your children's fear of fear
How I wish to hold you in my arms
and comfort you in heaps
Please Mother,I need you to be calm
rest you must in undisturbed peace
Your eyelids remain shut and
cobwebs cover them
it's time to open them up
and see what's really happening
Whisper in your children's ears
no more running, hiding and living in fear
for there is always hope...yes HOPE is still here
Wipe away your enemies with
a swipe of your iron arms
tear away their scourge,
destroy their spirit and
their evil weapons
Cry! Oh cry my beloved country
There is much to be done
for your grieving daughters and your stricken sons
What does the future hold for you?
You don't decide but your rulers do
will they suffocate what's left of peace
among these tragedies?
Or will they bring you back to blazing glory?
You my country can only wait and see
for you too cannot the future see.

Hai Neneps. Very touching poem. You don't mention the name of this country of yours but I gather it either must be a war torn or terror stricken country.
Very well written I must say.

When I read this poem of yours, I was reminded of the bombing in Islamabad,Pakistan that happend just 4 days ago.
I could really feel your grief for the victims of terror in this country of yours.
It takes a certain amount of intelligence to draft a poem such as yours. Perhaps you were in an emotional mood when you wrote it but well done Neneps.

Very nice pictures that you have added in this poem of yours. I must say that the pictures itself tell a very compelling story.
You are a very versatile poetess Neneps. I love you for that.

Yes I cried a little reading your poem. You wrote about death and destruction not by nature but by man kind itself.
Your poem opened my eyes about so many countries that are in this situation and Pakistan comes to my mind with the latest devastation that happended just over the weekend. I realized that I am so lucky living in a country that is free of such terror. I pray for all the victims involved and may their souls rest in peace.

I think that you are talking about the recent hotel bombing in Islamabad,Pakistan. I feel that our weak government is to be blamed. Our President's speech on the day of the bombing was nothing but smoke and mirrors if you ask me.
Pakistan will only prosper and be free of such terrorism if the country is ruled with an IRON FIST. Period!
