I am a happy individual and I LOVE life. Some people say that I am too passionate about the things that are dear to me but I say..."Hey! You only live once!" I love to write about very simple things like the people and things that I have observed, childhood and teenage memories, about love and marriage etc. I am also into quite alot of poetry writing these days. Enjoy reading my fellow readers and fans. ;)

Passage To Karachi

I long to be in your arms Karachi
Oh when, when will you kiss and cradle me?
Will you accept me....
as the daughter of your city?
Will you not welcome me with open arms?
My nerves are never calm
until I am safe in your palms...

When will my passage to Karachi be?
When can I be yours sincerely?

My Life is there in you oh honourable Karachi
Please take care of Him for me
I am hoping that our situation is just temporary
that...soon one day I'll start my life in Karachi

I want Him safely nestled in your arms
protect Him please and keep Him from harm
Do this for me dear Karachi
before I come to your city
My passage to Karachi
my homeland ultimately.

Beautiful! Crisp and to the point. I love the imagery of a mother that you use to describe the city. You must really love Karachi to write something like this.

I hope that you'll visit the city soon. I'll add you in my prayers. I like Shama better than Neneps.
Now I know what SHF meansLOL

What a creative poem Shama. Very clever of you. I am from Karachi but I have never seen my city the way you see it.

My city is so crowded and full of chaos sometimes. We don't get much power...infact much of anything doesn't work here. But the human spirit to go on living depsite the odds is great.

Once you get to know the people here and they accept you as one of theirs...you'll never find such hospitable people...we don't trust people so easily but when we do...we are your friend for life.

Karachi is also a very modern metropolitan I may say. There are lots of things to do and see. I hope that you'll visit Karachi soon and thanks again for your beautiful poem.

I have seen the movie,'Passage to India'...and now I have read your poem,'Passage to Karachi'.

I can see that you wrote this poem straight from your heart...I can feel it. Delicate and so caring...I feel your love for the city and for your loved one.

I hope to read more of your poems Shamaji.

Hmmm...a poem that has very deep meaning to it. I am amused and at the same time wonder...what can compel you to write something so emotional about this city?

Why not write about Paris or Rome?

With reference to the post from Dukka Mukhta, the reason for writing about Karachi is that she wants to live where her heart belong. I am living in Karachi and believe me as Syed Ali Khan rightly pointed out that the hospitality we show towards guests and friends are unmatched. Besides Karachi has all the facilities of a modern city with many beaches to visit. The unique thing about Karachi is that despite being a modern city, it retain the traditional value which is a heritage of subcontinent.

I am proud of you Karachi.

Wah! Wah! Well said HF! I am from Lahore and I heard so much about Karachi!

I have heard of the beautiful beaches and the Arabic sea. I must make it a point to go to Karachi soon.

I am so proud to be a Pakistani. The treasures of my country are plenty...right from her people to her many beautiful cities and how she staunchly guards her heritage despite the modernization around her...it's like a beautiful modest woman behind her transparent veil.

HF! You are absolutely right about Karachi. Went there in June last year. Stayed at one of the apartments by the beach.

Very, very beautiful. The food was great and the people are very friendly and good looking...especially the men who look like Bollywood stars!

I'd advise anyone who wants to visit the city to visit the museums. I was so fascinated. Karachi is also a shopper's paradise I might add.
